A Thing of Naught
I decided to briefly touch on the subject of love again. In a previous post, I discussed the greatest love. Love for God and love of God. But, now I wish to discuss love for our neighbor and for our enemy.
Christ commanded in Luke 6:27, “Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you”.
So we know that we are supposed to love our enemies. But there seems to be some confusion as to the response that will bring.
I have heard that love will conquer hate. That if we deliver a message of truth, with only pure love in our hearts, then the receiver cannot be offended. Hmmm…! I really don’t think that is always true.
Christ Himself came and delivered the perfect message with perfect love… and the world crucified Him. “And the world, because of their iniquity, shall judge him to be a thing of naught…”
Many other prophets who have delivered God’s message have also given their very lives as they stood as a personal witness of His truth.
If you stand as a witness of Christ, willing to testify to the world of Him and of His truth, be prepared to be hated by the world. There has always been and will always be one basic fight in this mortal existence. Good vs. evil. Christ vs Satan.
The same battle rages today. If we decide to stand with Christ and to stand for Christ… to take upon us His name, we must be prepared to be hated like Christ. It’s not the easy thing to do… but it IS the right thing to do.
